User Experience Design
For FuelVoucherWorking on FuelVoucher during its startup phase provided a unique challenge. Convincing users to abandon established habits in favour of a new system for managing their fuel purchases.
On the hook to validate the assumption that vehicles owners are looking for a means to budget and track their spending on fuel; and would appreciate the benefits such a system provides plus the added convenience of cashless transactions.
My role within the team was to lead the UX strategy for the project, ensuring we delivered a user-centered product. While working with other designers, business analysts, a project manager, product owner, data analyst, and a team of developers.
Apart from the primary challenge of shipping such a novel idea. There was the technical challenge of building a positive experience for web and mobile. At the same time racing the clock to validate the product concept in time for the 2014 440NG accelerator program.
We prevailed - not only was FuelVoucher adopted by 440NG and well received generally. It has since passed the N10 million in monthly transactions milestone.
In the end, a successful project is never done. It is never perfect. It is only an opportunity to learn. This experience taught me to embrace niches instead of mass appeal. And to build a great mobile experience by treating it as a complimentary yet separate experience.
